What the app does with your photos
Every photo your iPhone takes stores two things TravelMapReel needs: when it was taken and where. From the photos you pick, the app:
- Finds your stops. Photos taken close together in time and place become one stop, named after the town or place.
- Traces the route. Drives follow the real roads between stops. A leg you covered faster than any car could becomes a flight, and a sea crossing with no road becomes a ferry; both are drawn as arcs.
- Picks your best photos. An AI model rates each photo for sharpness and composition, so the video opens on your strongest shot and skips blurry photos and screenshots.
- Renders the video in the cloud. It takes a few minutes; the app tells you when it’s ready.

Why not draw the route yourself?
Tools like Canva, CapCut or After Effects can animate a route, but you trace it by hand and place each photo on the timeline yourself. Route-tracking apps need to run during the trip. Where it works
TravelMapReel is an iPhone app, coming soon. The trip in the video above is a real four-day drive from Montenegro to Croatia: 163 miles and 4 stops, made from its photos alone.
