How does TravelMapReel turn photos into a map video?

Every photo your iPhone takes saves when and where it was taken. TravelMapReel reads that from the photos you pick, groups them into stops, traces the real route between them and renders an animated map video. You do not draw anything or track GPS during the trip.

Step by step

    Pick the photos from one trip

    Open the app and choose the photos from one trip in the iPhone photo picker, up to 200. Pick the whole trip; you do not need to sort or trim first.

    The app reads when and where each photo was taken

    TravelMapReel reads the time and location saved in each photo. Photos taken close together in time and place become one stop, and each stop gets its place name.

  3. 3

    The route is traced between the stops

    Drives follow the real roads between your stops. A leg you covered faster than any car could becomes a flight, and a sea crossing with no road becomes a ferry; both are drawn as arcs.

    Your best photos are chosen

    An AI model rates every photo for sharpness and composition, so the video opens on your strongest shot and each stop leads with its best photo. It also titles the trip and writes a short caption for each stop.

    Make it yours

    Rename, reorder or remove stops, edit captions, pick a map theme and a vehicle. Photos with no location wait in a short list; place them on the map or leave them out.

    Render and share

    Tap Create video. The video renders in the cloud in a few minutes; you can leave the app and it tells you when the video is ready. Save it to Photos, or share it from the share sheet to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts.

What do my photos need?

Location saved in the photo. iPhone photos have it when Location Services was on for the Camera. Photos without a location still work: you place them on the map in a couple of taps, or leave them out. Trips from years ago work too, as long as the photos kept their location.
